Creating the future of music technology. That's ExpressiveLabs.

An update from ExpressiveLabs

It has been a while since we last shared news on our own first-party voicebanks. Today we would like to tell you about Jinshi’s new design and voice provider, our renewed commitment to using AI for good, and exciting news about Mikoto Studio!

A new Jinshi AI

Due to insurmountable disagreements about certain contract terms, we unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to part ways with Jinshi’s original voice provider. These events took place at the beginning of 2025. Since then, we haven’t waited around, instead working hard to find a suitable replacement voice for our favorite chaotic virtual cat-boy. We are very thankful for the enthusiastic response we received from our partners and are proud to introduce a brand new Jinshi to you today!

Jase (YouTube, BlueSky) is a vocal synth community veteran and skilled singer. When we first heard his demo reel, we were immediately swayed. One thing led to another and today we are proud to announce the all-new Jinshi AI!

We are committed to reflecting the character and values of our voice providers through the design of their voicebank. For this reason, we made various big changes to the previous Jinshi design to make him better represent Jase. The updated design and a brand new reference sheet are now available on our website, together with reference sheets for all other MiSingers. You will also find our Character Usage Guidelines, which describe what you can and cannot do with the MiSinger designs.

Joining the aiformusic pledge

In other exciting news, we have joined numerous other music technology companies in supporting the aiformusic pledge. We are proud to renew our commitment to artists and creators through the ethical and consensual use of data and the creator-focused design of our software. We have been very vocal about ethical and consensual use of AI technology in our industry since the very beginning and we hope to reinforce our promise to the community through this initiative. If you would like to know more about what ExpressiveLabs stands for, please read our Ethics Statement.

What’s next?

In the upcoming few weeks, we will finally be able to share some of the hard work we have put into Mikoto Studio and its voice libraries over the past few months. We look forward to show you our first four virtual singers and tease some of the exciting third-party voicebanks that will be joining them on both of Mikoto’s synthesis engines when Mikoto launches in early to mid-2026. We will also be making some announcements regarding the Mikoto Studio crowdfund campaign and free public demo, both of which are scheduled for the beginning of next year. Please look forward to news regarding these and other exciting developments in the near future!
